How Orelope-Adefulire OSSAP-SDGS Awarded N43.2m Fake Contract To Supply School Bus To Victory College, Ikare Akoko
Office of Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs) is entangled in what could be described as multidimensional frauds ranging from payment of billions of Naira under the guise of consultancy, phony contracts and awarding contracts to her staff and aides, duplication of contract payments and expended billions of Naira on travelling and allowances despite economic recession the country is currently passing through.
This newspaper has unravelled how Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, allegedly paid the sum of N43,222,289.72 on the 21st of May, 2021 to the Zenith Bank account 1014049038 belonging to AYFIR Construction Company Nigeria Limited for the supply of 1 NO YUTONG ZK,6737D bus a 27seater diesel engine to Victory College, Ikare Akoko, Ondo State, an ancient college that was established in 1947, located in Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The Bus was never supplied to the school.
Our reporter who went for investigative inspection of the bus could not find such a bus, while some staff and old students who spoke on condition of unanimously confirmed that no bus was ever supplied to the school thereby denying the students and staff the benefit of such a vehicle, but the school’s name was fraudulently used to cart away a whopping sum of 43.2 million of taxpayers money.
Efforts to reach the SSAP, Mrs Adefulire Orelope and her Secretary of Program were not successful as their phones were switched off.
Mrs Adefulure Orelope was a former deputy governor of Lagos state between 2007-2015 and in March 2016 she was appointed Senior Special Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on Sustainable Development Goals for eight years before she was reappointed by President Bola Tinubu for the same job.
Her eight years as the SSAP during Buhari’s regime were marked by a higher degree of fraud and misappropriation of public funds.
It was believed that she enjoyed political protection at the expense of taxpayers because her father Alhaji Orelope is a political leader of President Bola Tinubu in Lagos
Dr Yinusa Adejobi, a public Analyst and human rights activist described the previous eight years of Mrs Orelope Adefulire as monumental fraud and, surprisingly, a government that promises to fight corruption could still appoint her to such a position.
“I believe if a special investigator is appointed to investigate her office head will roll including politicians and civil servants. Unfortunately, this is a mother who used her office to deny students of Victory College, Ikare Akoko the benefit of democracy and such an amount of millions could be taken out of the Treasury. I strongly think this kind of fraud should not be swept under the carpet,” Dr Adejobi said.
