The quest for stardom continues as four contestants on the Hi-Life Fest music talent show get evicted from the keenly contested show.

Last Sunday, we had the first live performances of the season with the contestants delivering thrilling and electrifying showmanship on stage to the delight of the judges and the live audience.

Jide Kene, the host of the season, presented the highlife stars with the task to write and perform an original song influenced by the popular Igbo proverb which states “The toad does not run in the daytime for no reason.” The contestants were to be judged based on originality, creativity, brand affinity, stage presence and lyrical panache.

The contestants embraced it as an opportunity to display their creative prowess and give their best performance. As the week went by, the judges met with the contestants as they rehearsed to provide assistance and guide them to achieve an excellent performance on Sunday night.

The live performances saw contestants infusing rap and pop into highlife music sending the live audience into a singing and dancing frenzy. Adding a twist to the mix, an unexpected wildcard, Chiagozie Alexander aka Trizzy Thor, also performed. This surprise entrant was chosen from the multitude of talents that emerged from the online auditions.

It was the moment of truth after the contestants showcased their performances. Four contestants – Bright Okemmadu, Chiagozie Alexander, Emeka Daniel Okidi, and Miracle Okpara were evicted from the competition, leaving a dozen others to continue in their pursuit of becoming the next King of Hi-Life.

The journey to crowning the next king of highlife continues, as the drama, talent, and entertainment only get better. Don’t miss the next episode on Soundcity TV and ONTV this Sunday at 8 pm. You can also catch the broadcast on Africa Magic Igbo at 7 pm and Africa Magic Epic at 10 pm.
